Initial Consultation:
We meet to discuss your goals, preferences, and unique requirements, and kick off the project with a proposal.
Concept Development:
Preliminary concepts are drafted, allowing you to explore various layouts and styles.
During this phase: We begin by crafting a conceptual design of your main floor, which we then share with you for thoughtful review. Through a collaborative process, we refine and tailor the design until it aligns perfectly with your vision. This same approach is carried through each level of your home and every exterior elevation, culminating in a complete set of architectural drawings that you not only approve—but truly love. From there, your dream home is ready to take shape.
Engineering and Structural Preparation:
Once the conceptual architectural drawings are approved, our next phase is preparing the preliminary construction documents to be sent to the engineer for structural drawings and calculations.
Note: While Stonecast Custom Home Design is not a structural engineering firm, we proudly collaborate with Redwood Engineering to provide all necessary structural drawings. Please note that engineering fees are separate from our design services and will be contracted and paid directly by you. However, to ensure a seamless experience, Stonecast Homes manages all coordination—sharing files, addressing questions, and facilitating communication—so you can enjoy peace of mind knowing every detail is expertly handled.
Detailed Design & Drafting:
While your drawings are undergoing structural engineering, we continue refining other essential elements of your final construction document set. This includes coordination of the site plan and civil engineering, detailed dimensioning, door and window specifications, code references, custom architectural details, cross sections, and basic electrical designs—ensuring every aspect is thoughtfully developed and ready for construction.
High-Quality Renderings:
We take great pride in crafting lifelike, photorealistic renderings that offer our clients a true sense of depth, scale, and atmosphere. These visualizations bring your future home to life, providing clarity, confidence, and peace of mind that what’s to be built is precisely what you’ve envisioned—and more.
Plan Checks and Finalization:

- 8,000 – 11,999 sq. ft.: $4.00 per sq. ft. (minimum or bid)
- 12,000+ sq. ft.: $5.00 per sq. ft. (minimum or bid)
‘Reuse’ Custom Design:
- 0 – 3,999 sq. ft.: $0.75 per sq. ft. (minimum or bid)
